This year’s Bible reading progress so far!
In this day and age it seems like we are so focused on lists (I love lists!) and checking things off.
But when it comes to spending time with God, checking things off is not the important thing here.
Of course I would have loved to have the Bible completed for this year already, just to start all over again. What can I say? I just LOVE Bible Study! However, I just can’t read without notating what stands out to me and how God speaks to me, even if it’s as simple as just marking a verse with a star ⭐️ or circle to remember to study it deeper at a later time. So that slows me down a bit, not mention my sweet babies! 💙
Reading and studying the Bible is important and should be a top priority in any Christian’s life. Whenever I read statistics, I’m always amazed and a bit saddened at the amount of Christians who haven’t read the entire Bible.
It’s important for us to know what the Bible says, ourselves. Not what our parents told us it says. Not what a pastor told us it says.
Walking in obedience is essential.
Making sure that our sinful flesh isn’t out of fellowship with the Creator, leading to selfish and biased opinions.
Being well versed and knowing God’s Word is a great responsibility for teachers.
And by teachers, I mean all Christians who chose to share the Gospel with others, not just with our lives, but our platforms too.
Your life may be the only Bible that some people will ever read.
James 3:1 Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.
We really need to immerse ourselves fully into the Word and be LIVING salt + light! This isn’t to say that we are sinless but that our lifestyles are consistent with God’s truth!
I consider myself to be a serious student of the Word. But as much as I study, there’s just so much that I don’t know! Can I tell you what happened in the 9th chapter of 2nd Kings right off the bat? Can I give you a detailed synopsis of The Chronicles? Can I tell you everything you need to know about Ezekiel? No, no and no.
As Christians, do we really need to read Joel, Nahum and Habakkuk? What about Philemon and the 3 “little” Johns? Of course we do! The ENTIRE Bible is our life guide. God didn’t give us this beautiful book just to sit on a lonely shelf to collect dust.
2 Timothy 3:16 – All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
This verse alone should:
- make us put Bible Study at the top of our to-do list
- make us open our Bibles with joy each day
- is why every single page in the Bible should be read and studied
- encourage us to share the Gospel with any and everyone
Over and over and over; until we meet the author Himself!
How can we obey the Word if we don’t read it?
Soooooo, what are you doing?! Stop reading this and go open your Bible! 😉
