Psalm 8 – Crowns That Believers Can Receive In Heaven

Today is Day 8 of our Summer Bible Study, Sailing Through Psalms.

In Psalm 8 we learn all about the glory of the Lord in all creation! The verse that stood out to me in Psalm 8 was verse 5:

For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. (NKJV)

Our beautiful Savior was made a little lower than the angels for a while as He took on sinless human flesh… for US! And now He’s crowned with glory and honor as He is seated at the right hand of our Heavenly Father!
Oh how great it is to know that we as BELIEVERS will reign with Him in the future glorious millennium (2 Tim. 2:12)!

Prophecy is one of my favorite Bible study subjects to study! There’s literally hundreds of them. I usually try to highlight most of them (along with several other topics) for those who order Confetti Bibles.

My study today made me think about the 5 crowns that Believers can receive in Heaven. Today, we’ll be taking a look at them.

  • THE CROWN OF GLORY
Recipients: Awarded to those who are faithful shepherds of God’s people.
Bible verses: 1 Peter 5:1-4 To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.
Matthew 5:19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
  • THE CROWN OF LIFE
Recipients: Awarded to those who have endured and triumphed over trial, temptation and persecution.
Bible verses: James 1:2 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the LORD has promised to those who love him.
Revelation 2:10 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the LORD has promised to those who love him.
  • THE CROWN OF REJOICING
Recipients: Awarded to those who have led others to Christ.
Bible verses: 1 Thessalonians 2:19 For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes?
Daniel 12:3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.
  • THE CROWN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
Recipients: Awarded to those who have a longing for the Lord Jesus and look for His return.
Bible verse: 2 Timothy 4:8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
  • THE CROWN OF VICTORY
Recipients: Awarded to those who exercise self-discipline.
Bible verses: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.
    * Also called the Imperishable or Incorruptible Crown.

Fun (optional) Activity: Mark each of these “Crowns” in your Bible. You could highlight them, draw crowns next to them, place crown shaped tabs or stickers by each of them or whatever your heart wants to do!

I marked each of mine with these cute Moroccan paper clips! In the future, I’d love to mark them with filing tabs or either crown shaped tabs! Working in my Confetti Bible is one of my favorite things to do and our Psalms Bible Study has given me so many ideas for the future! But that’s for another day and another post. 😉 I encourage you to research more about these crowns and reflect on the verses listed often. They have truly encouraged me A LOT on my Walk with God!

Let’s chat! What did you learn from your quiet time today? What verse(s) stood out to you the most? I would love to know!

Love Like Confetti,
Shar
